What is Power Yoga?

Power Yoga is a strong vinyasa flow form of yoga, it is not locked in a series or set of asanas. This makes it adaptable to the needs of the class or the practitioner. It is often said Power yoga stems from Ashtanga, however as it is a vinyasa karma form of yoga it can be seen as coming from the teachings of Krishnamachyra. On the whole in a Power yoga class you will be taken through a series of asanas that will endeavour to touch and every inch of you head to toe, lengthening and strengthening as you go. The primary focus is on your breath and the whole practice is a practice of no ego, in other words complete non-competiveness (if you need to take a child's pose in the first 5 minutes please do so). Power yoga is the art of mulit tasking, to calm the mind, strengthen the body and increase flexibility all at once.
